What an interesting week or two it has been. A crazy trip to Ohio, the death of Osama bin Laden; the new guy telling me in a 630am text message that he "just didn't feel it anymore", which was reflected by his spending time back on match.com (its cool what you can see about what your contacts are doing) and more drama than I care to ever deal with-- both in Ohio and here. When I finally told someone to "Shut the Fuck Up" the other night, I think it was actually directed at about three or four million people-- give or take.
As with all things, however, there are lessons to be learned. and from this it is simple-- mind your business; don't spend your life bitching about other people; and remember that the "Thieves of Time"- God bless you John, are everywhere-- in so many forms. Sometimes you just have to take a step back, drag yourself from the mire, and make the conscious choice that no-- you will not let them have you-- not today.
So I will go in a few minutes to take some photos of airplanes; have my coffee and remove myself from it all for at least a little while. Next week I will visit my sister to see photos of my future niece or nephew; badger my dad about staying in better touch, and sit on a beach. No one will know me, maybe they wont even speak to me. Just like that fellow plane spotter at JFK last week who pushed by and never said even a polite "hello."
At the time, my Midwestern manners were entirely offended but today, I have to say, I kind of get it.

And Now a Word From The Sponsor
Welcome to my site and thank you for reading. After many times thinking, if only I had a blog, well-- here we are. This blog will feature writings on a variety of topics from roadside food, to leadership in the fire service; politics; culture- gay, straight, and indifferent, my experiences in Ohio, New York and beyond; and much much more. It's my hope that you will find it interesting and that it stirs at least some thought and discussion. I am certain you wont always agree, but that is what its all about right? Oh and one more thing:
